About the Class

Uneasy about the commercial feeds containing genetically modified corn, soy, or fish meal?


Join us to learn how to plant fodder gardens for your critters and cut your feed bills by 25%-75%!


This class goes in depth about the nutritional needs of goats, quail, chickens, and rabbits as well as raising micro livestock like red wigglers, black soldier flies, and mealworms.


After this 90 min workshop you will...

  • Learn 30 fodder plants that do well in North Texas, their nutritional profiles, and how to grow them.

  • Design ideas for where to place animals in relation to plants as well as basic principles for closed loop designs.

  • Learn natural farming techniques to befin to build your closed loop systems to further your food security.

Taught by Kirsten Huber of Good Tilth Farm & Nursery and Lorica Tea.


Included in class fee is a light breakfast, plant list handout and three  plants - one seedling, one cutting, and one packet of seeds - to get you started!

Background

Kirsten Huber has been a permaculture designer for 16 years, certified through the Permaculture Institute of Australia, by Wayne Weisemen of the Permaculture Project. She is the owner of Good Tilth Farm & Nursery and Lorica Tea and has worked as a permaculture designer, farm and greenhouse manager and educator throughout the DFW area.
